Doodle 4 Google logo
For a third consecutive year Google are inviting Irish students to take part in the Doodle 4 Google (@Doodle4Google) competition, with this years theme of ‘To me, happiness is….’
From 60 regional winners chosen by expert judges, the public will be asked to vote and help select four national finalists who will each receive a free laptop for themselves and one for their teacher also. The national winner, chosen by Google’s professional doodlers in California, will have their doodle featured on Google for 24 hours in March 2011. Their school will also receive a €10,000 technology grant.
Last year’s winner was Ruth Deeney from Loreto Community School, Milford, Co. Donegal, with her doodle appearing on Wednesday March 3rd, 2010.
Doodles are judged in four groups:
Four expert judges will evaluate each entry on artistic merit, creativity, concept communication, and supporting statement. The four expert judges are Sinead Connolly, Dublin City Arts Officer, Seán Kissane, Curator of the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Gary Granville, Professor of Education at the National College of Art and Design, and Ian Brunswick, Events and Community Manager at Science Gallery.
Registration forms can now be filled out on the Doodle 4 Google website.
