Betiply brings Daily Fantasy Sports market to Mexico

Betiply announces that it will bring Daily Fantasy Sports to Mexico, which until now, has only been available in the US and Canada.

Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) is already immensely popular in the United States, and for Betiply co-Founder and CEO Michael Puscar, the decision to bring the market to Mexico to become the first truly international Daily Fantasy Sports platform was a no-brainer.

“Mexico is home to Latin America’s most passionate sports fans,” said Puscar, adding, “the country is a natural market for DFS and we hope to make our platform accessible across the country on both desktop and mobile devices.”

Targeted at both both English and Spanish-speaking audiences, Betiply’s move to the Mexican market ensures that the platform will work seamlessly across borders. Mexicans will not only be able to participate in fantasy sports, they will be able to share in the excitement with their neighbors to the north.

“Now Mexicans will have a chance to showcase their sports IQ against other users in the United States and Canada, and additional Latin American countries as we continue to expand in 2016,” said Betiply COO Bob Reisenweber, hinting at plans to expand services into Colombia next month.

In a recent interview with France Football, Tigres striker Andre-Pierre Gignac proclaimed Mexico’s fans to be the world’s most passionate.

“Here there is more passion, more identification with the club, more respect for the players and the colors,” Gignac said. “You play all the time in stadiums with capacities of 40,000 to more than 100,000 and that are often full.”

With that level of passion and support, it is expected that Mexican sports fan will be eager to compete in DFS contests ranging from local leagues such as the Liga MX as well as international soccer leagues including the English Premier League, German Bundesliga, Italian Series A, and the Spanish La Liga, among many, many others.

But Betiply isn’t just targeted at soccer. All the major North American professional sports networks are included in the platform including the NBA, MLB, NFL, and NHL.

“As we continue to expand into Mexico and beyond, we will continue to add more leagues and make the platform available in more languages,” said Puscar, “Our goal is a truly international platform. If you are passionate about a sport, we want that sport to be covered within Betiply.”

Betiply is backed by GITP Ventures, a Panama-based early-stage venture fund and Ruta-N, the center of innovation and business in Medellín, Colombia. It has also received backing from various angel investors from both Colombia and the United States.
