Startup Week: GoCo’s all-in-one HR platform simplifies small business management

When you think of Human Resources, HR, you may react the way Steve Carrell’s character Michael Scott did in the US version of “The Office,” and how he loathed every second with his HR nemesis – Toby Flenderson.

Fortunately, as Startup Week here at The Sociable powers on, there is a Software as a Service (SaaS) obsessed with technology solutions for HR that reimagine the way companies interact with their employees.

Founded last year and based in Houston, Texas, GoCo combines modern software with trusted advisors that assist in simplifying benefits, payroll, compliance, and is perfectly fitted for small businesses.

If GoCo had been available to the fictitious Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, there would be no need for a boss like Michael Scott to hate his HR rep Toby so much as to say, “If I had a gun with two bullets, and I was in a room with Hitler, Bin Laden, and Toby, I would shoot Toby twice.”

Instead, GoCo would have been able to provide the lovable albeit inept boss to “deliver delightful user experiences that transcend operational value and help small and mid-sized businesses transform their culture.”

After raising $1.81 million in funding last year, the company built a state-of-the-art platform that streamlines critical business operations, including employee onboarding and offboarding, document management, HR compliance, and benefits administration.

Sorry Toby, your services are no longer needed.

Modern HR is all about streamlining and automation, and GoCo is ahead of the curve when it comes to seeing the whole picture. It allows for speedy onboarding, keeping track of employee time off, as well as monitoring compensation, benefit costs, and payment information – all while being secured with bank-level encryption.

SaaS-based platforms like GoCo’s HR solution “help employers save money from not having to install their own software. In addition, companies can cut costs by automating manual processes.”

Serial entrepreneur and co-Founder, Michael Gugel, explains the importance of having an organized onboarding system.

“Employees cost businesses an estimated $37 billion every year because they don’t fully understand their jobs, a lot of which comes back to poor training and onboarding processes.”

GoCo recognizes the need to combine both a pleasant, personal experience among employees, and a balanced system that makes the interaction seamless.

As Gugel put it, “If you want to attract the best talent and get them to engage with and advance your company, then you need to have the basic HR systems in place to make them feel at home.”
