PlayStation app coming to iPhone and Android “very soon”

In an official blog post Sony have announced the launch of the PlayStation app coming to iPhone and Android devices “very soon”. The app will allow basic PlayStation friend interaction and access to the latest PlayStation games and products news.

The PlayStation app will allow you to:

  • Check your PlayStaion Network trophies and keep up-to-date with your friends’ games and online status.
  • Discover the latest games for all PlayStation consoles.
  • Read PlayStation blog posts.
  • and share your favourite games and news with friends on Facebook and Twitter.

The first release of the app will initially be available to those in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. Unfortunately Ireland is not mentioned in this list. However, the next release of the PlayStation app, which is already in the works, will include Ireland and most other central and eastern European countries. Strangely, neither the first or second app versions will be available in the US.

The app will work on iOS 4.0 devices and above, and Android 1.6 devices and above. Share your thoughts in the comments.
