For the last few years the FIFA team has been performing minor miracles in improving what has consistently been the best football game around time after time. Each year we laud it as the best football game ever made, and then the following year we’re knocked out of the park by the fact that they’ve managed to find something in there to improve, tweak and revolutionise in order to improve the gameplay experience beyond our wildest dreams. This year has been no different.
Despite the first thing major difference that you’ll notice on previous years being the new presentation, the improvements here go a hell of a lot deeper than just the horizontal menu select screens that replace the tried and tested vertical options.
David Rutter and his team have decided that the time was right to completely overhaul the defensive side of the game, and they’ve managed to do it with quite some aplomb. Those of you who have been dedicated to the FIFA series for some time now will undoubtedly have some problems adjusting to the fact that you can’t simply hold a button to let an AI controlled player rush the attacker, while you follow the run of his support, but it has made the game indescribably more realistic.
